The Border

If you're a US citizen coming from the US, be advised that proof of citizenship is required to cross into Canada and back again. This means a passport, or picture ID plus a birth certificate. Simple ID such as a driver's license is sometimes accepted but that's at the discretion of the border official. Particularly, it's become a much bigger hassle to get back into the US if you lack the proper documents.

If you're not a US or Canadian citizen, then I suspect you know better than I what is required for your entry into Canada.

Airport or Train

Toronto is served by Pearson International Airport and VIA Rail (with connections from a few Amtrak lines).
